Don’t wake up – an aubade for day 6 of NaPoWriMo 2015

7 Apr

She lies, still a-slumber, though the sun is high
Face relaxed and childlike, brain on standby
I watch her from the chair, motionless, my-
Happiness dimmed by a cloud in the sky
Don’t wake up

I recollect, the night of dreams, improbably perfect
For once in her life, she had not been circumspect
And I took advantage, in the hope that we’d connect
Now anticipating what I know will happen next
Don’t wake up
