Klutz of Heaven

26 Apr
From day 25 of napowrimo – take the first line of another poem and then run away with it. My first line is from Yeats’ Cloths of Heaven – sorry W.B.
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths
I’d probably leave them on the bus
You can’t trust me with valuables
I’d rather not have the fuss
Your heart? No please, I can’t have that.
In my heavy hands it would break
I wouldn’t want that on my conscience, love
It’s too much for me to take
Your faith, dear, is in me misplaced
I don’t know what more I can say
Forget me, move on and take care of yourself
You’ll get over me someday

Jerry Lewis (pre telethon days) comes to mind.

I’ll take that as a compliment – we didn’t get much Jerry Lewis over here other than his films. I hope I haven’t kleptomaniacally nicked his schtick!

Not at all. He did the hapless klutz thing really well, but he was always kind of pitiable. I like your characterization better.

        Thank you!

Sweet and sad. You need to keep writing even after April is over!

Thanks PR – this isn’t a writer-y thing to say but it’s the time commitment that gets me! I do enjoy it though.

If you love something, you’ll always find the time 😛

I know. The writing isn’t the problem – it’s the time to turn my brain on for the thinking bit. I’m amazed at the variety and richness of your work – I think you must have ditched your hat because your brain is too big for it!

At least one poem a week — you don’t have to do it everyday, busy boy 🙂 Aw, B, I can say the same about you. AND my hats are still very close by. ❤

Rather romantic and wistful . . . wah . . . I’ll be okay, just keep writing as I wring my hankie.

Aw – you carry a hankie?

      • Karina Pinella April 27, 2016 at 11:35 am #

The disposable ones also known as tissues

I did wonder. Not so easy to wring in despair though.

Ahhh, mmmmm, seems like a true love letter to me, he cares for her feelings and the hurt he might cause her. Rare indeed and no wonder somebody loves him so much that he finds it hard to bear.

Your words made me more emotional than the poem itself! Thankfully it’s not (very) true.
